iBac 4.0 has established a new paradigm in data protection. iBac provides many levels of protection for your data and lets you decide which level of protection each server requires. Whether your servers require scheduled file level backups or continuous byte level backup, iBac can handle the job. iBac is a modular software solution and each server can be licensed with the necessary modules required to protect your data.
When a disk is brought back iBac uses its compare engine to compare the current data on the backup media to the data that is on the production server. iBac compares the data on the backup disk with the data on the production server based either on date, time/size or block checksum (copies only changed data within a file). Once this is complete iBac then updates and syncs the data to reflect the current state of the system. Because iBac just backs up the changed data it gives the backup administrator a full backup in the time and space it takes to backup the changes. This not only reduces the load on the servers being backed up but also saves precious bandwidth. This greatly increases the speed of the backup since data that has not changed is already available on the destination disk. Because of this, iBac 4.0 is ideal for both local and remote backups that are run over the WAN.
