iBac Data Protection Software - Smarter Faster Backup
iBac 4.0 for Windows provides continuous data protection (CDP) and backup/restore capabilities in one easy to use software package. Its scalability, performance, and reliability make it an ideal backup solution for every type of business from SMB’s to the most demanding enterprise environments.
iBac 4.0 for Windows has been developed to speed up and simplify the job of backing up critical data. Imagine if each day you could parse every file in the enterprise and only back up those that have changed since the last backup was run. This would save enormous amounts of time compared to the traditional backup method that involves backing up entire files, databases and objects each time a backup is run regardless of whether they have changed from the previous backup. iBac 4.0 for Windows introduces a new medium for data protection and retention that logically addresses the process of backing up mission critical data.
The iBac Difference
What makes iBac unique is that is was developed by the manufacturers of disk based backup hardware that had seen the shortcomings of current backup software that was on the market. iBac was developed to look at backup, restore and disaster recovery in a new light by introducing concepts that are new to the backup software market:
CDP Capabilities
Pay for what you need!
– iBac 4.0 combines the ability to continuously backup servers or schedule daily backups in one software package. Use only what you need and manage CDP and backup in one easy to use GUI.
-
Backup byte level changes continuously
- Once an initial backup or baseline backup has been run, iBac CDP will backup any changes at the byte level as they happen from the source server to the destination eliminating the need to schedule around a backup window.
Back it all up! – iBac CDP allows administrators to backup data, system binaries and databases out of the box without having to pay for additional agents or modules.
-
Bandwidth Throttling
– iBac CDP is designed to protect critical servers on the LAN or at remote locations. Not only does iBac 4.0 just backup the byte level changes, bandwidth throttling is also provided to take advantage of available resources to ensure that remote backups do not take up the entire available bandwidth.
Windows Target -
All you need is a Windows target for iBac CDP. We have designed iBac 4.0 to be used with ejectable disk media as well as any other Windows target. If you are not in the market for ejectable disk backup, install iBac 4.0 with CDP on any Windows server and have continuous byte level backups in minutes!
-
Remote Management – iBac 4.0 allows you to remotely manage your backup or continuous backup jobs.
Backup/Restore Capabilities
-
Native format backup
- Rather than putting data into a proprietary format, iBac completes a high
speed copy of data in its native format so that the backup media is identical
to the data found on the production server.
Always full backup
In an ideal scenario, everyone would only run full backups to simplify the process of restoring data when needed. iBac makes this a reality by eliminating separate incremental backup jobs. Once an initial backup job has been completed ,iBac will only backup the changes since the last backup was run. iBac gives you the option to merge those changes into the last full backup or use BVM to store the versions alongside the last full.
-
Lightning fast restores
- Administrators and users can quickly access backup data at the file level
and restore data in mere seconds. Because iBac keeps data in its native
format, files can be restored by name or instantly accessed on the backup
server without requiring a restore. Imagine if you could just redirect your
users to your backup data as opposed to restoring your data before it can be
used.
Unique DR Capabilities -
iBac allows backup administrators to failover servers to the backup server
temporarily until the production server is fixed. The backup server actually
assumes the role of the down server and takes it place until the server has
been restored to production capabilities.
Database and Open file
backup - Unlike other backup software where multiple agents are
required to backup an entire system (example - SQL and Exchange), iBac only
requires the optional Open Volume Snapshot license to backup both databases
and open files.
How does iBac Work ?
iBac leverages the random access nature of disk to create a high speed copy of your data. iBac can determine if any changes to a file or its attributes have occurred since it was last backed up to a specific media. If modifications are detected, only the changed files or portions of a file are backed up. iBac 4.0 gives you the option to decide which servers are the most critical and which ones need continuous backup.
