The Teralyte was designed with the SMB in mind and for the first time offers an affordable and portable disk backup solution. The Teralyte combines the speed of SATA disks with the portability of tape by using disk media for both backup and offsite storage. The Teralyte attaches directly to your server or backup server and allows you to quickly backup your data to removable disk. These disks can then be left in the system for local storage or they can be physically removed, like a tape for offsite storage and disaster recovery.
Teralyte uses non-proprietary hard drives allowing SMB’s to use any capacity or manufacturer SATA disk as locally attached removable disk backup media. Disk to disk backup is designed to eliminate the problems associated with tape based backup. Teralyte makes this a reality by using portable disk media and completely eliminating the need for tape.
The Teralyte is available in three configurations. Each unit comes with iBac Data Protection Software, the Idealstor Disk Management Utility and the rugged Idealstor Caddy. The Teralyte is designed to be connected to individual servers or backup servers running Windows XP, Windows 2003 Server, Windows 2008 Server or Vista. For all these operating systems, both 32 bit and 64 bit versions are supported. Each unit comes with a SATA2 controller with external eSATA ports. The controller is available for use on PCI-32, PCI-X or PCI-Express slot on the host computer and can be low profile or standard height. eSATA cables are included.
Note: The Teralyte is compatible with any major backup software on the market designed to backup to disk. The Teralyte can backup data from almost any OS. This is strictly a function of the remote agents that are available from your backup software provider. Not compatible with Windows 2000.
