Idealstor is hands down the best solution for our backup needs to date! We were in the process of setting up a document storage solution to digitize all of our paper documents and would require almost a terabyte of data storage to backup every night. We purchased the 4 bay Idealstor backup system with 4 250 GB Hard Drives. A 250 GB Hard Drive can be purchased for approximately $ 299.00 ea ($ 299.00 x 4 Hard Drives = $ 1,196) which will give us up to 1.0 TB native or 2.0 TB compressed we required. With the current tape system that we used each tape costs approximately $ 50.00 each and only stored up to 35 GB Native 70 GB Compressed. In order to get the same capacity as the new Idealstor System we would have required 35 Tapes (30 Tapes x 35 GB = 1.2 TB) (30 tapes x $ 50.00 ea= $1,500.00) making it both impractical and costly. That is not even counting the time required to backup and Restore. Our backup times and restore times were cut down over 3/4 of the time. No more having to listen to the tape whir back and forth to retrieve your file. Restore times are almost instantaneous it was amazing. I would highly recommend this solution to anyone..

Idealstor disk-to-disk backup appliance is a Godsend…our tape backup frustrations are gone, we have no problem with reliability of data and we have reduced our full backup time by 75%.

Our network has over half a terabyte of data, one server, which does cold imaging, has 280GB of data that needed backup every night. This took us 20 hours for full backup and 6 hours for incremental backups. Now that we have Idealstor, we backup this server in 5 hours every night with no need for incremental backup which always gave us an uncomfortable feeling as to data reliability. Idealstor Backup Appliance has been the savior for my backup environment. Prior to having Idealstor I had a backup crisis resulting with tape issues such as bad media, tape head alignment, and hanging sessions within my backup software. Idealstor has given us the ability to centralize and scale our backups. With Idealstor Backup Appliance we have been able to backup all of our servers to one location and have been able to complete full backups every night. Before implementing Idealstor in our environment we were using numerous DLT tape drives. Our backups required a lot more capacity than what we were able to accommodate. We considered buying a large autoloader for backing up the whole network to consolidate, but speed and cost was a factor. The cost of maintaining servers, rotational tape schemes and backup devices was not cost effective, or adding another backup server and device. We evaluated some larger autoloaders and then we were introduced to Idealstor. We found Idealstor more cost effective, reliable, and scalable, plus it got us away from our dilemmas.
