iBac Virtual Infrastructure Proxy (iBac VIP) is an enterprise backup solution for VMware virtual servers that eliminates the need for scripting, server downtime or having to install expensive and resource consuming backup agents on each virtual server. iBac VIP was designed to simplify VMware backup and makes it far easier to backup and recover data in a VMware virtual server environment.
Getting Started - Adding Backup Server and Hosts
- When first setting up iBac VIP you simply need to add the backup server/proxy to begin creating jobs. This can be any Windows 2003 Server or an Idealstor Removable Disk Backup Appliance. Once the proxy has been added, you can add the ESX hosts or Virtual Center that needs to be backed up.

Configuring Backup Jobs - Selecting Target for Backup Data
- Backups can be sent to disk or removable disk. You can also specify the number of backup sets to store on each disk/array and VIP will automatically overwrite the oldest backup when reached. Pre/Post scripts can also be scheduled.

Configuring Backup Jobs - Selecting Hosts, Virtual Center and VMs
- iBac VIP is licensed per host or Virtual Center. As soon as a host or Virtual Center has been added, VIP will list all the VMs that are available so backups can be scheduled. You can simply hide the VMs which don't need to be backed up. It is hard to see in this picture but VIP marks each VM that already has a job scheduled to make it easier to manage your backups.

Configuring Backup Jobs - SAN, LAN, Email Noticiation, Logging
- There are many options available when setting up a backup job. Data can be sent to a SAN or over the LAN. Email notification and logging can be sset up and you can even specify to retry the job if for some reason it fails.

Configuring Backup Jobs - Scheduling
- Once the job has been completely set up you can simply select to run the job now or jobs can be scheduled to run at a later time.

Reporting - Job Status and Logging
- Job status is available for jobs in progress or compmleted jobs. More detailed logs can also be configured when setting up backup jobs.
